She advocates tirelessly for childhood diseases, her life platform. She has dedicated her life to joining the fight against childhood disease and to bringing hope, love, and life to children suffering from catastrophic diseases. She is also an AIDS activist and an activist for GLBT youth, families, and seniors.

A devout Christian, she rarely misses church on Sundays. Raised Catholic by her mother, a beautiful young church folk group singer, spirituality is an extremely important part of her life, as it as been her rock in the toughest times of her life, and especially during her transition. When God took her mother, Laura, barely 41 years old, Juliana knew that it must have been for a reason and decided that her mother was chosen to be one of God's angels. This concept began her lifelong quest for spirituality and searching for the answers that hardly anyone asks - Where do we go when our time here is up?

One of Juliana's core beliefs, fostered during a special education class in college, is that labels serve no justice for human beings, and so since then she has never referred to herself by labels in which society has given her. Instead she called her condition "Benjamin's Syndrome", to make it more humanizing to the individual going through the pain and suffering.
